He's heard about variations of Earth that have a different history to his own- hers may well have been wildly different. Or did the templars and Assassins exist in her world, and their ridiculous war only ended when society fell completely? He doesn't know, she doesn't either, and probably they won't ever actually know. He just assumes their worlds aren't connected, and that's probably for the best.

Jacob laughs. "I can't imagine you doing that. I don't think too much surprises you."
